View the full Startups 100 Index for 2024 and see who we crowned the winner.
The Startups 100 is the definitive list of the most promising new UK businesses, chosen in collaboration with our authoritative panel of guest judges.
Celebrating its sweet sixteenth, next year’s list will put the spotlight on those firms who are leading the way for sector innovation in 2024. Since 2008, we have identified some of the biggest movers and shakers of the past two decades. Previous alumni include household brands Monzo, Deliveroo, and THIS™. The winner of last year’s list, Caura, recently celebrated receiving £4m in funding from Lloyds Bank.
We want to celebrate the creativity and agility of the UK’s startup landscape, and highlight the inspiring entrepreneurs who are using small ideas to fix giant problems. So don’t miss the opportunity to shout about your success and join one of the oldest, largest, and reputed small business communities.
The entry requirements are minimal. As long as your business is based in the UK and founded after January 1st 2018, you’re free to apply to the Startups 100 2024!
How to apply to the Startups 100 2024:
Startups 100: how to apply
Applying for the Startups 100 is easy and entirely free. We are proud to be one of the few business awards that does not charge any entry fees.
When you fill out our online entry form, we’ll ask you a number of straightforward questions about:
- Who are you? Your entrepreneurial story
- What is your business? (and what makes it stand out from the competition?)
- Where you are based?
- When did you launch your business?
- Why did you start your business?
- What do your finances look like? including figures from FY 2022/23 and this year’s projections (any financial information is treated as confidential and will never be disclosed).
- What other company data can you provide? – go on, show off your impressive stats such as superfast employee growth, new product launches, or booming subscriber numbers.
Once you’ve submitted your form, your application is complete. We’ll store your submission away until it’s time to begin judging in October 2023.
Startups 100: how it works
During the application stage, our online form asks businesses to provide us with clear facts and figures that give us evidence of your growth story, ranging from financial details to five-year vision.
Once the judging process begins, we then use this data to assign weighted scores to every business entrant based on five key areas of analysis:
- Finance (how much funding have you raised if any, and through what methods?*)
- External validation (any significant achievements e.g. notable partners or clients)
- Size of opportunity (what ambitions do you have in terms of scale-up?)
- Strength of concept (is your idea unique?)
- Innovation: (how is your idea disrupting the market?)
*When finalising the top 100, our judges look for impressive business ideas with lots of growth potential – but don’t feel intimidated if you haven’t got big funding figures to advertise or a well-known partner.
