Dashlane is the best password manager for businesses, and the overall winner of our five best password managers review.

Not only did we find Dashlane the most powerful and user-friendly password management tool we tested, it really goes the extra mile to take the hassle out of staying safe (and on top of things) online.

As well as an ultra-intuitive dashboard, we were impressed with genius features like being able to analyse all your password strengths, update many passwords with a single click, and even auto-save all your online receipts (we’ll explain all below).

The only place Dashboard doesn’t come out on top is its price – at around £2.50 a month ($3.33) it’s not the cheapest password manager. But given Dashboard’s well-designed and time-saving features, we think it still offers excellent value for money.

Dashlane: The good

Dashlane is a straightforward and robust password manager that makes keeping passwords secure as easy as possible.

Auto-store receipts

When you shop online, Dashlane automatically finds and saves your receipts – it’s the handiest place to keep them all if you ever need to get your hands on a warranty. But there’s also the option to add them manually if you prefer.

Share securely

Dashlane has a nifty password sharing feature, so you can keep all your colleagues in the loop, whether they’re with Dashlane or not.

Password strength analysis

Dashlane is pretty unique: it doesn’t just store your passwords securely, it takes an active interest in your all-round password health.

From the dashboard, you can run a speedy analysis of your passwords’ strength, then auto-change any weak or overused passwords.

Dashlane: The less good

Dashlane is an exceptional password manager, but it’s worth considering its quirks and what you get with the free trial.

No attachments

Attachments are helpful for screenshotting complex codes or security questions and uploading them to an entry. It’s a good feature to have, but not a deal breaker.

Is Dashlane Free worth it?

Free password managers can be a good idea, but with Dashlane we recommend thinking twice before going ahead.

With the Dashlane Free, you can only store your passwords on one device, so losing it means losing the lot.

One get-around would be backing up your database to an encrypted hard drive, but for the hassle, it probably makes sense just to opt for the paid subscription.

Hassle-free password security for a few pounds a month

Dashlane is a premium password manager – it costs a fraction more than some rivals like LastPass, but it also comes with that bit more support.

Dashlane Free

Dashlane Free has many of the top features offered by the Premium edition, with one big omission: your passwords are all stored on one device – and aren’t backed up to the cloud.

That means you really don’t want to lose whatever device you’ve installed Dashlane on. In fact, we just don’t think it’s worth the risk, considering you can get complete peace of mind for just a couple of pounds a month.

Dashlane Premium: £2.50 a month

The Premium version of Dashlane is such a step up that it’s almost not worth saving those couple of pounds a month on the Free edition.

It costs around £2.50 a month ($3.33), but you’re welcome to try it for free to see how you get on.

The main benefit of this plan is being able to sync all your passwords securely via the cloud across your devices, so you can access your passwords whether you’re on your laptop, tablet or phone.

This is a pretty big one, as otherwise losing your device means losing all your passwords – and a world of admin. For not much a month, we think that’s plenty of peace of mind.

But there are other perks too like VIP customer support, extra authentication support and unrestricted password sharing.

Dashlane Business: £3 a month

If you’re a small business owner, you’ll especially benefit from secure password sharing with Dashlane Business, which you can get for just £3 ($4) per user per month.

With the Dashlane Business plan, you get all the benefits of Premium, plus some additional perks like:

2. Admin Console – For user management
3. Bumped-up security – With 2FA integration

Web extension

With the Dashlane web extension, you can instantly log onto websites and save new passwords in just a click. We like how Dashlane automatically saves and fills in your passwords, so you can browse the web easily and safely.

Password Generator

We all know we need to stop using our dog’s name or anniversary as our password, but it’s tricky to remember strong passwords. Dashlane’s built-in Password Generator lets you create iron-cast passwords – and you don’t need to remember them all because Dashlane has your back.

Secure Credit Card Storage

As you’d expect, there’s a Secure Notes and Documents section that saves any personal data you’d like. And with the web extension memorising your payment details, online shopping is also a breeze.

Dark web monitoring and personalised alerts

Online identity theft is on the rise every year. Dashlane constantly scans the web to see if any of your credentials have leaked there, and if you’re ever a target you’ll get an alert so you can act right away.

VPN for WiFi protection

Dashlane really pulls out the stops when it comes to keeping you safe online. If you’re ever online on an unsecure WiFi, Dashlane will encrypt all your activity, you so stay protected.

Secure sharing

Dashlane also has a nifty little feature that your friends, family and coworkers will love. You can share any passwords you choose with them without even needing to reveal what it is. It stays encrypted, and if you change it everyone stays looped in, or you can revoke access at any time.

Dashlane vs LastPass

Bags more features, but a scratch pricier

Dashlane and LastPass are absolutely two of the best password managers out there, and both strong contenders for the number one spot.

They’re both simple and secure, but Dashlane will make your life that bit easier with premium support and many of the time-saving features we’ve been raving about (the multi-password update tool alone is a massive time-saver).

That said, Dashlane also costs that bit more (around £1 more a month), so LastPass may be your best bet if you’re on a tight budget.

So ultimately, it’ll come down to whether you’re more interested in a features-packed option or a nice and cheap password manager. Either way, you won’t go wrong.

Dashlane review: Final verdict

The most features-rich password manager

Dashlane has one of the most intuitive dashboards and helpful features of all the password managers we tested.

Of course, there are slightly cheaper rivals, but given the low monthly costs of all password tools, it’s barely worth saving less than a pound a month if you end up losing your peace of mind.

Thanks to some handy perks like the password analysis tool, multi-update function and online receipt auto-saves, we’ve crowned Dashlane our best password manager overall.
